The Victorian Government is reviewing the laws for the poker machine industry. 

This could go well, or badly. Which direction will depend on what voters like you say. 

Right now, clubs and pubs own a license to print money (that's the poker machine) for 10 years. That's pretty outrageous but here's the rub - they want their machine licenses to last forever! 

Diamonds are forever, pokies aren't. 

It's not all bad though. With a push from Victorians like you, we could get some reforms to take some of the harm out of this industry. Simple policies ...

It's not all bad though. With a push from Victorians like you, we could get some reforms to take some of the harm out of this industry. Simple policies like removing machines with features designed to decieve, and a speed limit of $1 a bet so people can use the machines without losing quite so much money.

Even the government recognizes that inducements that get people to bet more than they had planned can lead to greater harm. We're all sick of seeing sportsgambling ads promising free bets, favourable odds, early payouts and the like - and we know it's pretend because the bookies always win. It's just like loyalty programs in clubs and pubs, which entice people to gamble above their plans. Let's just get all inducements banned.
